Aurevia Patient Transfers | Non-Emergency Medical Transport in Toronto & GTA

A grandchild's wedding. A milestone birthday. A graduation, a funeral, a holiday dinner with the whole family. When you or your loved one can't sit in a car for long or needs help with every transfer, these are often the first things people assume they'll have to miss.

Many don't have to. With planning, stretcher transport can make it possible to be there in person.

Event Transport When Mobility Is Limited

Events we help with

  • weddings, anniversaries and milestone birthdays

  • graduations and family celebrations

  • funerals, memorials and visits to a cemetery

  • religious services and holiday gatherings

  • concerts, theatre and sporting events

  • a visit home, or to a favourite place, during a long hospital or care home stay

Some of these are joyful and some are hard. All of them matter, and in both cases the trip should feel calm.

Plan the event around energy

The person attending often tires faster than anyone expects. A few choices make a big difference:

  1. Arrive before the crowd. Getting settled while the venue is quiet is easier and more private.

  2. Plan a shorter visit. The ceremony and first hour of a reception may be the right amount. Leaving while it's still enjoyable is better than staying until exhaustion.

  3. Ask about a quiet room. Most venues can offer a side room for rest, medication or a private moment.

  4. Check the washrooms. Know where the accessible washroom is before you need it.

Talk to the venue early

Most theatres, arenas and halls in Toronto have wheelchair seating and accessibility staff, but very few plan for a guest arriving on a stretcher. Call ahead and ask:

  • whether there are steps at the entrance, and where the accessible entrance is

  • whether you or your loved one will stay on the stretcher, move to a wheelchair, or use a recliner at the venue

  • where the vehicle can pull up closer to the door

  • whether a support person ticket or seat is available

Share the answers with us. Our crew handles stairs at either end, and stair assistance is included in the price.

How we help on the day

Two trained crew members collect you or your loved one from home, hospital or residence and bring everyone to the venue on time. One family member or friend can ride along at no charge. On-board oxygen is available if needed.

For most events, Reserved Treat & Return is the best fit. The crew and vehicle stay reserved for the length of the event, so the ride home is ready whenever it's time to leave, including earlier than planned. If the event will run particularly long, we can schedule the return as a separate trip at an agreed time instead.

When it's a final wish

Sometimes the event is a last chance to be somewhere or with someone. Palliative care teams are often the best people to ask whether a trip is realistic, and some charities help families plan these moments. Families can also arrange the transport with us directly, and we will plan the trip around comfort first.
